January 7th Milestone

***spoiler alert***

How are we already one full week in the New Year?! It’s crazy how fast time is passing!

For those of you reading along that aren’t local to NC, I still want to keep you in the loop and hopefully engaged with the books we read each month.

In my kickoff post, I included the prompts below:

Things to think about while we’re in this first milestone of the book:

*Does this book hook you in right from the beginning or does it take a little while?
*Do you think it’s predictable or does it keep you guessing?
*Who is your favorite character?
*What do you like about them?

I was pretty hooked right from the beginning. This author sets up the entire book with a scene that makes you feel like you’re right there next to the characters.

I haven’t been able to tell yet if it’s predictable, but there’s a feeling in my gut that I can’t shake about our main character, Ellie. I don’t want to ruin anything, so I won’t go into detail on that, but I do have a theory.

My favorite character at this point is Chelsey. Although I don’t completely relate to her, I do see some admirable qualities in her. She’s very dedicated, even if not to her marriage. She wants nothing more than to solve each case she comes across, Ellie’s case being no different. We also see a side of her that’s softer, delicate even. She’s still holding onto her family’s home and can’t find the strength to pack it all up and sell it because of what the house represents. I’m excited to learn more about Chelsey, but I’m even more excited to continue reading so that I can find out how this case ends.

Share your reactions/answers to these discussion questions (if you want) and get more involved 🙂 As always, you can follow along on FableBookclubs, and Goodreads
