Since my vertigo episode, Vin and I have been following a new nightly ritual. We eat dinner in the living room while watching TV – typically Bones – and then after we’re done eating, I like to lay in bed to continue watching TV. Sometimes we watch another episode of Bones, but for a while there we were watching Food Network shows religiously. I also would switch between Food Network shows and Bar Rescue, which plays on Paramount I believe.
We have cable included in our monthly rent, so we definitely try to watch cable shows as much as we can just to make sure we’re getting our money’s worth.
Pretty soon, I’ll be starting a new nightly ritual. We have a balcony with access from both the living room and our bedroom and it’s a pretty decent size! I also just hung up string lights yesterday on the railing out there so it’s become more cozy and inviting. I can’t wait to start sipping my chamomile tea while I sit on our oversized chairs in my pjs enjoying the lights, weather, and a book – hopefully with the company of my husband!
I haven’t been able to really read books since this vertigo incident back in July and that’s really been a bummer for me, but now that I’ve been feeling better, I think I can start reading again! I read about 6 books this year so far, which is pretty great considering all the other things I’ve done over the last 8 months. My goal (eventually) is to read a book a week, but I know I have to work my way up!
Vin and I love our shows, but I would feel better about including reading into my days again. Who knows, maybe I can get Vin to read, too!
I’m excited to read some books that I think will be perfect for spooky season. I’m also looking forward to the weather cooling down. It’s so hot here even after the sun goes down so that’s another thing preventing me from enjoying our balcony, but I’ll be out there within the next couple weeks! I’m very excited about it 🙂
I’m also planning on buying myself a few more books for my September birthday (Virgo!) to add to my lineup of books for this year.
Other than that, my nightly ritual will be the same. I’ll still eat dinner with Vin in our living room while we watch TV and then before going to sleep, I’ll still lay in bed with the TV on, but hopefully in between those, I can sneak in some reading on the balcony.
And then once the weather cools down enough, I’ll be able to cuddle up with a blanket out on the balcony, too! Reading some spooky books while cuddled up with a blanket and some tea sounds really amazing right about now.
I’m always interested in receiving book recommendations, so if you have any that you’d like to share, send them my way! You can use the form below to submit your recommendations and I’ll get back to you as I receive them!
Talk soon, xoxo.
