Hello, lovelies!

Rest.

Until recently, I didn’t know what rest was or how to do it. It was a foreign concept to me because I always felt the need to be doing something. But a few weeks ago, I was having some sciatic nerve pain in my lower back, hip, and down the back of my left leg, so I went to my AMAZING massage therapist who practically beat me up LOL

If you’ve never received a massage specifically for sciatic nerve pain… let me just tell you, you are not missing out! It is one of the most painful things I’ve ever voluntarily experienced, and because of the intensity of it, I was exhausted for a few days afterwards. I got the massage done on a Saturday afternoon and on Sunday, I think I was awake for maybe 6 hours. The rest of my Sunday was spent sleeping because I couldn’t keep my eyes open.

For those of you that immediately thought, “holy cow, that’s too much sleep!”, you’re wrong LOL Our bodies NEED sleep to heal. And because of all that work done on my sciatic nerve, I NEEDED that sleep and I NEEDED to heal.

I’ve been learning more and more as the years go on that rest is such an essential part of living. The reason being because it helps us recover from things we maybe can’t bounce back from as quickly as we once could.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to listen to your body. If your body is trying to tell you to take it easy, then listen to your body and take it easy because if you don’t listen, you might end up hurting yourself, which would only prolong the chore or errand you pushed yourself to do in the first place.

Ensuring your body gets the rest it needs (and deserves!) is going to be a saving grace. Give it a shot! 🙂
