Good morning 🙂
I wanted to talk more about habits, as I touched on them in my latest podcast episode.
Habits are formed after 3 weeks of doing the same thing over and over again. Habits can be good if they are healthy habits to have, but other habits can be harmful for you.
For example: an individual that has a habit of eating an excessive amount of candy right before bed every night is a bad habit that is unhealthy.
A good habit could be that an individual wakes up every morning at 5am and goes for a walk around the neighborhood before starting the day.
Habits form, I feel like most times, without us realizing it. And then there’s a day you don’t do that one thing and you’re like ????
To create habits is difficult sometimes because there’s almost too much pressure on yourself when you’re trying to create a healthy habit and then it becomes unmanageable.
Bad habits are hard to break because they’ve been in your life for so long that it can be hard to break them. It takes just about the same amount of time to break a habit as it does to form one.
Whether you’re trying to make or break a habit, just be mindful of the fact that it can get challenging and to cut yourself a break if you find that you can’t keep up with it right out of the gate. Be patient with yourself.
I think if you’re trying to make or break a habit, it would help to make a goal and to remind yourself that you can only take it one day a time. Keep a checklist every day for 3 weeks to hold yourself accountable for it.
Let me know how it goes! 🙂
Talk soon, xoxo.
